What is Mind Mapping and how does it connect to Radiant Thinking?

Mind mapping is the external expression of radiant thinking i.e. the hard copy of radiant thinking. Buzan (2011) explains a Mind Map as a long list of monotonous information which has been transformed into a colourful, memorable and highly organized diagram that works in line with your brain's natural way of doing things.

As discussed above Radiant Thinking starts with a central image and associates thoughts radiate from that. Buzan (2011) describes a simple way of understanding Radiant Thinking and Mind Mapping by comparing them to a map of a city. The city centre represents the main idea (central image); the main roads leading from the center represent the key thoughts (hooks, branches) in your thinking process; the secondary roads or branches represent your secondary thoughts, and so on. The fact the map is recorded as a hard document is the conversion of radiant thinking into Mind Mapping.
